The Go-To Play

USC led by 20 at halftime before West Alabama hit eight second half threes to close the gap to 62-54 at one point.  With his team in need of a bucket, Andy Enfield called an alley-oop to Julian Jacobs who slammed it home and keyed the finishing spurt.  While Enfield ball is known for alley-oops, the play is about more than pleasing the crowd.  "To me, it is a very high percentage play if you have good passers," said the head coach.  "Our guys are getting much better at it, and I think you saw that."

Confident Freshman

Freshman forward Nikola Jovanovic has pushed his way into the starting lineup early in his first season, and he is not shy about taking his shot.  Tonight, he made 5/6 from the field and both his three-point attempts.  He finished with 14 points and 6 rebounds.  "He is just a young player who's talented and has an unbelievable attitude.  He shows up every day with his eyes wide open and wants to get better," said Enfield, who wants Jovanovic to take after senior Omar Oraby.

Training Wheels Off

USC took all four games in this home stand, and now sets sail for Paradise Island in the Bahamas to take on Villanova and an elite field.  "We're going to play three big time basketball teams," said Enfield.  "We're going to be tested right away."  The Wildcats are 3-0 led by PF JayVaughn Pinkston who scored 20 points against North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament last season.  The game tips off at 10 a.m. PT on Thanksgiving Day.
