A Golfing Powerhouse

Andrea Gaston's success as the head coach of USC women's golf for the past 17 years is not only demonstrated by her program's three national championships, including the wire-to-wire run in 2013, but also in the success of Trojans at the professional level.

This week, Gaston has 10 former pupils in the Women's British Open.  After day one, Nicole Castrale is tied for third, and Lizette Salas sits in 10th.

And while the past continues to shimmer, the future could not be any brighter.  Coming off the NCAA title, current Trojans' Annie Park, Sophia Popov, Kyung Kim and Doris Chen are competing alongside incoming freshmen Karen Chung and Gabriella Then at the 2013 U.S. Women's Amateur.

Only 32 players received exemptions into the event and the Women of Troy made up six of the 32.  The event starts Monday.

Gaston (with Popov) is becoming Vavic-esque in her program's growing dominance.
