Ruffin-Spring13-McG.jpgName: Jabari Ruffin

Position: DE-OLB

Class: Redshirt Freshman

Size: 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds

Age: 18

High School: Downey (Downey, CA)

Game: Ruffin is a long and strong athlete who is a prototypical 3-4 outside linebacker.  He can excel as a pass-rush but also has the foot speed to back off the line and play in space.

Prep Career: The U.S. Army All-American arrived at USC as part of the 2012 fall class.  As a senior in high school, he had 99 tackles on defense, while also amassing 549 yards and 5 TDs on 42 catches as a receiver.

Spring Ball: Ruffin spent much of the fall making the conversion from linebacker to defensive end in Monte Kiffin's system.  Now under Clancy Pendergast, he can fully utilize his skill-set in the 5-2 defense.  On the first day of spring practice, he showed his athleticism by dropping into coverage for a leaping interception.  He could be a major factor this season playing behind Devon Kennard and Morgan Breslin.

To Quote Ruffin: "[Pendergast] is kind of a perfectionist.  It's good to have a coach like that always.  I really do like him a lot."
