As USC sand volleyball year two begins this week, the Women of Troy will officially open Merle Norman Stadium with an Alumni Game and dedication ceremony Thursday followed by the season opening competition on Sunday.

The inaugural festivities on Thursday will include appearances on the on-campus sandbox by Olympic silver medalists April Ross and Jenn Kessy who were indoor All-Americans at USC before making careers on the beach. Ross and Kessy will play the first match at the new Merle Norman Stadium at 5 p.m.

USC is ranked No. 3 in the country out of the 30 schools that sponsor the "emerging" NCAA sport. The Women of Troy officially open the season on Sunday at home to Florida State and Loyola Marymount.
