USC baseball is 2-0 on Sundays this season thanks to true freshman ace Kyle Twomey. While he picked up a no-decision in the win over Nebraska last week, the southpaw earned his first collegiate victory by going the distance in the series clincher over Cal State Northridge.
Twomey is a lightweight at 6-foot-3 165 pounds, but he had enough endurance to throw all 9 innings on 117 pitches. He gave up two runs on five hits and struck out five to only three walks.
The Trojans are now 4-3 on the season with Long Beach State coming to Dedeaux Field Tuesday at 6 p.m. PT followed by a three-game series at Fresno State this weekend.
