USC women's tennis started the season with a three-headed monster at the top of the lineup, but Zoe Scandalis, who burst on the scene playing No. 1 singles as a freshman last year, has been slowed most of this campaign by injury. Scandalis has been limited to three singles matches (2-1 record) and five doubles matches (2-3 record) on the young season.
The sophomore was rested yesterday in the 7-0 win over San Diego State. The Women of Troy still boast two of the top three singles players in the country in No. 1 Sabrina Santamaria and No. 3 Danielle Lao, but they are a true national title contender with Scandalis backing them up and lengthening the lineup.
