Signing Day Press Conference

Lane Kiffin used a pair of metaphors to describe an up-and-down National Signing Day.

The head coach instructed his charges to go "big game fishing" with the limited number of scholarships at USC's disposal due to the NCAA sanctions.  While the staff may not have caught as many fish as the other schools around the country, they reeled in some "big prizes," Kiffin explained.

The head coach admitted that there was not a lot of excitement or momentum around the building today, but that was due in large part to signing so many top players early, including seven spring entrants.  He compared the day to the feeling a coach gets when leading 35-0 then letting the other team come back, but eventually winning.

While you can watch the entire presser below, Kiffin was honest with his explanations in regards to the Kylie Fitts situation as well as  conceding that the 7-6 season and his resulting job status questions hurt recruiting in the last month.  However, he was bullish that the Trojans signed the most quality players in the country including several candidates to earn starting spots next season.
