Outside of enshrinement into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the John W. Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award is the Hall of Fame's most prestigious annual honor. As part of this year's ceremony, former USC men's basketball coach George Raveling will receive the Bunn Award for the impact he has made on the basketball world.
"George Raveling is one of the true pioneers of college basketball, his impact as a coach and mentor makes him a perfect recipient of this year's John W. Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award," said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. "Through his undoubted love for the game of basketball, Coach has positively influenced the lives of so many of his players and coaches. He is certainly deserving of this great honor."

Outside of his tremendous record as a coach at several different stops, Raveling's career was socially significant. He was the first ever African-American head coach in the ACC and the Pac-8 (now Pac-12).
