Swimming in the Bay

No. 1 USC women's swimming and diving will face an early season test this weekend with Pac-12 dual meets at No. 3 Cal and No. 8 Stanford.  The Women of Troy will be led in their quest by Palo Alto native Jasmine Tosky, who was the Pac-12 Swimmer of the Month for December.

"I'm actually excited to come back to Palo Alto just because I'll get to see my parents and my brother," Tosky told the Palo Alto Daily News. "But it's definitely going to be weird because I'm swimming for USC at my hometown."

Tosky is just a freshman, but she already owns a gold medal from the 2012 FINA Short Course World Championships, and she will be counted on to deliver much needed points against the Cardinal and the Bears.  Cal could be USC's stiffest competition when the NCAA Championships roll around in March.

As for Tosky's individual goals for her first season at USC, she is keeping them close to the vest for now.
"My expectations are more of long-term goals that range from a year to four years -- they're more personal," Tosky said. "But I think where I am right now, it's definitely good progress. And I'm actually excited that our team is looking good."
