Cassie Harberts has taken responsibility for the Trojans' offense. With a young perimeter cast around her, the junior forward has consistently dominated the paint, scoring in double digits in every game this season.
Now that the guards are growing up, Harberts' efforts are leading to wins for USC women's basketball. The Women of Troy lost six consecutive games going into conference play, but they are 4-0 in Pac-12 action for the first time since 2004-05.
Harberts is averaging 17.9 ppg and 7.9 rpg with six double-doubles on the season. She has upped her numbers to 21.2 ppg and 9.3 rpg in Pac-12 play.
She will have to continue her inspired play if the Women of Troy are going to escape the Bay Area with a victory or two. USC will take on No. 7 Cal (Thursday at 6 p.m. PT) and No. 6 Stanford (Sunday at 4 p.m. PT) on Pac-12 Networks.
As part of our women's basketball coverage this season, captain Christina Marinacci has been interviewing and profiling her teammates. Marinacci, who is pursuing a career off the court as a broadcaster, sat down with Harberts recently in "Chris's Corner."
