Cantu Introduced

Bob Cantu has seen this before.  In fact, in his 12 years as an assistant at USC under four different head coaches, he has seen just about everything.

Now, he will take those experiences and put them to use as the interim head coach of Trojan basketball.  In his introductory press conference, he expressed the need to bring leadership and energy to the program.

Strategically, he will create a game plan combining his knowledge gained from Kevin O'Neill, Tim Floyd and Henry Bibby.  While O'Neill was a strict believer in man-to-man defense, Cantu is considering a zone to protect his seven-footers.

For this particular team, Cantu expressed the need to find more scoring and create easy buckets.  To that end, he plans to play faster and implement a press.  By using an uptempo system, he can utilize the Trojans depth and loosen up the rims.

The entire men's basketball team showed up to Cantu's press conference in support, while seniors Jio Fontan and Eric Wise sat alongside the interim head coach.  Here is the presser in its entirety...
