Chris Hawkins, DB, Rancho Cucamonga HS (CA)

Rivals Rating - 4-stars (No. 8 CB, No. 34 Overall)

Hawkins is a slick cover corner with good length, which has been a focus of Lane Kiffin in recruiting the last two years.  Hawkins was a U.S. Army All-American after his senior season playing both ways as a corner and wide receiver for Rancho Cucamonga.  Defensively, he had two interceptions to go with 53 tackles.  He was named All-CIF Inland Division as a junior and senior.

Spring Q.) Can Hawkins fill an area of need?

The Trojans return a load of talented players in the front seven defensively, but the secondary was hammered by graduating seniors and the early departure of Nickell Robey.  If Josh Shaw moves back to his natural position at safety, both starting cornerback spots will be wide open.  Hawkins is looking at a fluid depth chart with a semester head start.
