Senior Standouts
Senior forward Aaron Fuller has become a clutch player for the Trojans. Against Dayton, Fuller scored a season-high of 12 points. Fuller also accumulated 10 rebounds against the Flyers. "Aaron plays with great energy and I really like how he has been playing defensively. He always tries to make the right play for his teammates," said head coach Kevin O'Neill. "He and Blasczyk play with a pure heart all the time. Both guys give solid minutes, play hard, are unselfish and want the team to win."
Defensive Specialist
Turnovers continue to plague the Trojans but the defensive success against Dayton is greatly credited to senior guard Jio Fontan. "We turn the ball over too much. If we can cure that and make some jump shots, I think we can be a decent team," O'Neill said. "I think Jio controlled the game well defensively with [Kevin] Dillard. Dillard only had one field goal which was unbelievable for a high-level player and pro prospect. I can't ask Jio to do more than that defensively."
New Year, New Attitude
The Trojans will commence Pac-12 Conference play on Thursday versus Stanford and will look to correct the mistakes of the past. O'Neill feels that the tough schedule and early losses set the Trojans back in regards to the team's progress and maturity. "Our schedule got us a bit and we lost games early in the season so guys have not developed and matured like they need to," O'Neill said. "We have so many new guys that are transfers and this is something we need ironed out if we are going to win. We don't shoot the ball from the perimeter at all except for Eric Wise."
