Trojan Heavyweight

gerald_washington.jpgWhile USC and Notre Dame are squared off in a heavyweight tilt on Saturday night in the Coliseum, former Trojan defensive end Gerald Washington will put his undefeated record on the line against Jamiah Williamson as part of the undercard for Guerrero/Berto in Ontario, CA.

Washington is a perfect 4-0 as a heavyweight boxer since switching athletic career paths from the gridiron to the ring.  At 6'6" and 245-pounds, he has slightly trimmed down from his football days, but Washington's strengths as a fighter are speed and athleticism.

His nickname is "El Gallo Negro" or "The Black Rooster."  His undercard against Williamson will not be televised Saturday.

Before attending USC, Washington served four years in the Navy as a helicopter mechanic.  After Troy, he made the practice squads for both the Washington Redskins and the Buffalo Bills.
