On
Wednesday night, the Trojan Athletic Senate put on its first annual
Faculty Appreciation Dinner in the Galen Center Founders Room. The
event, which was open to all senior student-athletes and members of the
Trojan Athletic Senate, provided an opportunity for student-athletes to
invite a professor or faculty member of their choice in hopes of
strengthening the bonds between student-athletes and their professors.
The evening was filled with great food, presentations from Athletic
Director Pat Haden and Sociology professor from the Dornsife College of
Letters, Arts and Sciences Amon Emeka.
Emeka, a former swimmer at California State
University of Bakersfield, was able to relate to and understand
student-athletes vigorous schedule while in college and also expressed
his appreciation for their work ethic and the lessons they learn through
athletics. The dinner provided a great opportunity for
student-athletes to mingle with other professors in different
departments at USC as well as form stronger relationships with current
faculty members across the board.
