Matt Barkley became the 13th NFF National Scholar-Athlete winner in USC history. The senior is now one of 15 finalists for the Campbell Trophy, which is college football's academic Heisman.
"While USC has had incredible athletes over its 125 years, Matt Barkley may well go down as the greatest Trojan of them all when you consider academics, athletics, community service and leadership," said Athletic Director Pat Haden, who is a fellow NFF National Scholar-Athlete winner.

I for one feel that the choices Matt has made since he entered USC have been some of the most difficult decisions any young athlete student has ever had to make and he has "aced" every one of these choices. He deserves every accolade coming his way and I congratulate him on all of his hard-earned successes! I know his parents and all who are close to him are very, very proud of this young, but determined man.
