"We are excited that Omar Oraby has joined the team and think he will fit in quickly," said head coach Kevin O'Neill. "His size and ability to score inside and block shots will make an immediate impact. He is a great student with a 3.7 GPA in Civil Engineering at Rice. He has a very bright future."

Originally from Cairo, Egypt, the big man set the Rice school record for blocks in a season with 54 in 2011-12.
