USC women's volleyball defended its home court by knocking off UCLA in front of a spirited Galen Center crowd to take round one of the Crosstown Rivalry.  If the Women of Troy can defeat Oregon on Friday, they should inherit the No. 1 ranking from the fallen Bruins.

The Trojans received standout performances across the board in the four set victory, but the one-two punch of senior Katie Fuller (21 kills) and freshman Samantha Bricio (19 kills) carried the night.  Fuller hit a remarkable .444, while Bricio displayed incredible composure in the biggest match of her young career.

USC and UCLA will meet again in Westwood on the final day of the regular season.

Natalie Hagglund and the Trojans delivered knockout blows early and often.
