Olympic Spotlight: Water Polo Heroics

USC alums Lauren Wenger and Kami Craig combined to send Team USA to the women's water polo gold medal match against Spain.  The U.S. team needed overtime to knock off Australia 11-9.

Wenger played her best match of the tournament scoring two goals in regulation.  And then in OT, Craig drove the final stake into the Australians with a game-sealing goal.

The U.S. Women's Water Polo team has never won Olympic gold.  The Americans will need to defeat upstart Spain in order to reach the top of the medal podium.

The gold medal match is at Noon pacific on Thursday.

Incoming Trojan Anni Espar scored four more goals, which brings her Olympic total to 13, to lead Spain past Hungary 10-9.  The Spanish women's water polo team has made the final in its first ever Olympics.
