Olympic Spotlight: Just Beachy

Jennifer Kessy and April Ross will play for a medal at London 2012.  The American beach volleyball pair advanced to the semifinals with a win over the Czech team Sunday.

Ross-Quarters-Kyle-Terada-USAT.jpgKessy and Ross will battle Brazilian duo Larissa Franca and Juliana Felisberta Silva on Tuesday for a spot in the gold medal match.  Fellow Americans Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings are still alive on the other side of the draw.

Team USA women's water polo secured its spot in the semifinals as well.  With Kami Craig playing a dominant role again, the Americans defeated Italy 9-6.

Flora Bolonyai bounced back from a rocky start in the Olympic Games to lead Hungary to a dramatic 11-10 quarterfinal win while recording six saves.  She will meet incoming Trojan Anni Espar of Spain, who scored twice in today's win over Great Britain.

On the track, Bryshon Nellum narrowly missed out on a spot in the 400m finals by finishing third in his heat with a 45.02.  The Cinderella story came up .03 short of a qualifying time.

High jumper Jesse Williams did make the finals however by clearing 2.29 meters.  The final is set for Tuesday.
