The Duke transfer will get his first college snaps in front of friends and family as the Orange County product returns home.  Schroeder was a highly-rated prospect out of Dana Hills HS, but never saw the field in Durham.  Head coach Norm Chow declared Schroeder the opening day starter on day three of training camp.

Head coach Lane Kiffin said you never know about a player until you see him in a game.  The second line of the depth chart will feature a lot of debuts Saturday, so if the starters can provide an early cushion, the coaches can start getting to know the likes of QB Max Wittek, WR Nelson Agholor, DT Christian Heyward, LB Scott Starr and the rest of the reserves.

Sack Dinner

The defensive line is the biggest question mark entering the season.  After losing Nick Perry to the NFL and Devon Kennard to injury, only Wes Horton (4 sacks in 2011) returns as a proven pass rusher from the front four.  Hawaii has always been known as a pass happy program, and Norm Chow loves to put the ball in the air, so Horton, J.R. Tavai and the rest of the defensive linemen will get plenty of chances to attack the backfield.

The First Step

As the Lao Tzu proverb goes, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."  The Trojans want their journey to end in Miami, which is about 2,700 miles away.  The first step is knocking off Hawaii in front of a sold out Coliseum.  Let the games begin...

I love the idea of an outside media member doing the 3 Keys, but please avoid Scott Wolf of the Daily News. he is immature and unprofessional. Moura is the finest reporter from an outside media source, and would do well to give the 3 Keys weekly. Please avoid Wolf.
