Amanda Weir became the first Trojan to tally the USC medal count at London 2012 as part of the women's 400m freestyle relay team, which earned a bronze.  Weir swam a leg of the prelims and then watched as Team USA touched third behind Australia and the Netherlands in the finals.

Katinka Hosszu, who graduated this past spring, provided the hard luck drama of the day.  The Hungarian led the 400m IM at the halfway point before narrowly missing out on the medal stand and finishing fourth.  She still has three more events to come.

In team competitions, Nicole Davis helped USA women's volleyball knock off South Korea in four sets, while Amy Rodriguez came on as a substitute for the U.S. women's soccer 3-0 win over Colombia.

Hosszu suffered a heartbreaker.
