Olympic Spotlight: Make It 40!

Incoming USC graduate student Joseph Veloce will compete in track cycling for Canada at the Olympic Games, which makes it an even 40 Trojans participating in London 2012.  He is enrolled in the USC Viterbi School to get his Ph.D. in electrical engineering.

Veloce is the second Olympic Trojan cyclist joining Wesley Chowen, who competed in road cycling at the 1960 and 1964 Games.  However, Veloce will race the keirin, which is basically cycling's version of roller derby.

He has won several Canadian Championships, including gold medals in the keirin in 2001 and 2008.  He recently graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.
