Olympic Spotlight: Formidable!

While Clement Lefert came into London 2012 without much fanfare, the French swimmer has been a surprise star for USC with gold and silver medals already in the bank.  Lefert swam the third leg of the 4x200m freestyle relay today and pushed France to a second place finish.

In the same race, current Trojan Dimitri Colupaev came up 0.29 seconds short of a medal.  Germany finished fourth. 

In other USC Olympics news, the U.S. women's soccer team won Group G with a 1-0 victory over North Korea.  Amy Rodriguez came on as a sub in all three group games.

Joel Dennerley and Australia bounced back from an opening loss in men's water polo.  The 2011 National Player of the Year made nine saves in a 7-4 win over Kazakhstan.

In volleyball, Jennifer Kessy and April Ross took three sets to dispatch a Dutch pair on the beach, while Donald Suxho and the U.S. men's indoor team swept Germany to remain undefeated.

The big story Wednesday will be Rebecca Soni's pursuit of gold in the 200m breaststroke.
