Facilities Race

We are blogging to you live from the John McKay Center today.  Slowly but surely, the JMC tenants are moving over from Heritage Hall before the grand opening on August 21.

JMC-Field-Construction.jpgThe new athletics and academics building is a three-level tribute to Troy.

The ground floor is a massive academics center complete with state-of-the-art computer labs.  The basement is a fitness paradise featuring a turf field (pictured by OC Register), nutrition bar and hydrotherapy pools to go along with brand new equipment for the strength and conditioning and athletic training departments.  On the top floor, the football coaches and staff are treated to new offices and high-tech meeting rooms.

In short, USC's recruiting weakness (facilities) has now become a strength.  Click here for more on college football's "Facility Arms Race" from NBCSports.com.

"It does help in recruiting," Lane Kiffin told Michael Ventre. "It helped with last year's class, just them knowing that this process was being done, that they'd be in that building. It does have an impact on recruiting. It has already had an impact on (the last couple of) classes."
