Title IX Turns 40

On June 23, 1972, the Women of Troy were born.  Thanks to groundbreaking Title IX legislation, women got their chance to compete and they seized it.

Profile Pic Women of Troy logo_00176.jpgForty years later, the USC women's athletics' program boasts 120 female Olympians, 64 individual NCAA titles, 23 national team championships and 14 Honda Award winners.  In the spring of 2013, women's lacrosse will make it 12 women's teams at Troy.

Barbara Hallquist was the first woman to earn a full scholarship in 1976. She set the standard as a four-time team national champion and a two-time singles champion all while graduating with honors.  Since then, legends like Cheryl Miller, Lisa Leslie, Angela Williams and April Ross have reached the greatest heights of collegiate athletics in the cardinal and gold.
