Mark McGwire is not the first USC Olympian that comes to mind, but he did compete at the 1984 games in Los Angeles when baseball was considered an exhibition sport. He was coming off his junior season when he set a school record cracking 32 homeruns before the Oakland A's drafted him in the first round.
McGwire's bat never heated up for the red, white and blue going just 4 for 21 with no homers, but Team USA took home the gold. Baseball became an official Olympic sport in 1992, but was voted out by the IOC for London 2012.
