Pitching wins in baseball, so in USC's reconstruction project, Stephen Tarpley is a solid building block.  The left-hander was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball for going 5-3 with a 3.22 ERA in his first year.

Tarpley posted some dominant statistics including not allowing a home run the entire season.  He struck out 67 batters in 78.1 innings, while holding opposing hitters to a .241 batting average.
