The BCS commissioners agreed on a four-team playoff, pending approval by the BCS presidential oversight committee, which will go into effect in place of the current system for the 2014 college football postseason.
The four teams will reportedly be determined by a selection committee, similar to the one that determines the March Madness field, which is supposed to emphasize strength of schedule and conference championships.
