On the Cut

After a miserable opening round, USC men's golf rallied at Riviera by shooting the low round of the day (+2 as a team) to move into a tie for eighth as play begins Thursday at the NCAA Championships.  At the end of today's round, the 30-team field will be cut down to eight for three elimination rounds of match play, so the Trojans are sitting spot on the cut line.

Junior Sam Smith provided the microcosm for USC's effort as a team this tournament.  He rebounded from an ugly 79 in the first round to lead the Trojans with a sparkling 2-under 69 in round two.

We will be tweeting live from Riviera today as USC men's golf continues its pursuit for a first ever national championship or you can follow the live NCAA leaderboard.

Sophomore Jeffrey Kang shot even par in round two.

Another fine choke job by a team coached by a former 'ruin. Playing on one of your home courses, and this is the result finishing 15th while ucla finished 2nd. Time to axe Zambri as man's coach with Director of Golf, Kurt Schuette going back on that side. Like men volleyball with another former 'ruin as asst. coach who can't be trusted to give their all for a bitter crosstown rival when the stakes are high.
