Another Vavic Enters Spotlight

Jovan Vavic has won 10 national championships as the head men's and women's water polo coach at USC.  His son Nikola Vavic helped the men's team to the last two NCAA titles.

Vavic-Monica-DT-ChrisPham.jpgNow, Monica Vavic takes center stage as the first Trojan freshman to make the All-MPSF First Team since 1999 for USC women's water polo.  She has scored 34 goals to date, second on the team, and controls the offensive play as a talented distributor.

Vavic is not alone in the cause as four other Women of Troy earned conference honors.  Sophomores Flora Bolonyai and Kaleigh Gilchrist made the conference second team, while Dominique Sardo and Colleen O'Donnell received honorable mention.

USC women's water polo is on its way to the NCAA Championships this week in San Diego, where the Women of Troy will take on Princeton in the national quarterfinals.
