USC women's basketball seniors Jacki Gemelos and Briana Gilbreath were selected in the third round of the WNBA Draft today.
Gemelos, picked No. 31 overall by the Minnesota Lynx, endured five ACL reconstructions at USC before fulfilling her lifelong dream of being drafted by a WNBA team. Her remarkable story of perseverance was told by Baxter Holmes in the LA Times.
Gilbreath, who was drafted No. 35 overall by the Washington Mystics, started all four seasons at Troy as a versatile guard. She can make an instant impact as a gritty defender who ranks fourth all-time at USC in blocks and sixth in career steals.
