USC baseball announced the signing of Bishop Amat senior Rio Ruiz, an elite pitching and third base prospect, who could be a program changer if he puts off Major League Baseball for a three-year commitment to Troy.

"As one of the premier hitters in the country, we are extremely excited to have this young man join our program," said head coach Frank Cruz. "Rio's lifelong dream was to become a Trojan, so we are very happy to see that dream come true. He and his family are very committed to the college process and earning a degree at USC."
