A pair of USC baseball alums made sparkling 2012 debuts yesterday.  Left-handers Barry Zito and Tommy Milone combined for 17 shutout innings to earn wins for their respective clubs.

Zito pitched the Giants to their first win of the season with a complete game 4-hit shutout.  It was Zito's first shutout in nine years on the heels of an offseason that he spent training at USC.

In just his fifth major league start, Milone managed to deal 8 scoreless frames despite not striking out a single batter in the A's 1-0 victory.  He was traded to Oakland by the Washington Nationals in the winter.
