Swimming Legend Rose Dies

Murray Rose, a five-time NCAA champion at USC and a six-time Olympic medalist, died Sunday of Leukemia at 73.  At 17, the Australian swimming great was the youngest Olympian to earn three gold medals at the 1956 games in Melbourne.

In his historic career, Rose set 15 world records including becoming the first to break the 18-minute barrier in the 1500-meter freestyle.  He followed up his 1956 Olympic display by winning a gold, silver and bronze at the Rome Olympics in 1960.
