In head-to-head competition, USC took out the 49ers (4-1) on the road, but dropped a dual match (3-2) this past weekend at a tournament in Hermosa Beach.

Overall, the Women of Troy boasted a 7-4 record to LBSU's 5-4, while playing a much more difficult schedule.  The Trojans traveled to Florida for a tournament in Tallahassee against the Final Four bound Seminoles, while the 49ers never left the Pacific.

The NCAA does not hold championships for emerging sports, so the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) was the deciding factor.
