Getting Over the Hump

No. 3 USC women's water polo has proven to be exactly that in the regular season...the No. 3 team in the country.

Nadia Dan-POdonnel.jpgThe Women of Troy sit behind MPSF foes No. 1 Stanford and No. 2 UCLA with the conference championship at stake this weekend.  The Trojans have lost four matches this season, two to Stanford and two to UCLA.

However, all four losses were decided by a single goal, including a recent overtime loss to the Cardinal in Palo Alto, the site of this weekend's MPSF Tournament.  Jovan Vavic's team is close and still has a shot to run the gauntlet against its rivals.

First up, USC will take on San Jose St., a team the Trojans beat 8-5 earlier this month, and then a looming rematch with UCLA in the semifinals before a prospective final with Stanford.  To follow the Women of Troy's push to the Final Four, go to the MPSF Tournament site.
