Harris Checks Out

Outgoing USC DT DaJohn "Juicy" Harris was held out of the physical portion of the NFL Combine due to a potential heart issue, but doctors cleared him for USC Pro Day yesterday after determining the small hole in his heart occurs in approximately 25% of people.

Harris has been officially diagnosed with a patent foramen ovale (PFO), a small hole in the heart that assists with blood flow while the baby is in the womb, but in Harris' case, did not completely close after birth.  The condition does not need to be treated.

His doctor and agent notified all 32 NFL teams that the defensive line prospect received a clean bill of health.  However, Harris was frustrated that he missed out on the chance to impress scouts at the Combine.

He was pleased with his performance yesterday and drew positive reviews during the week of practice leading up to the East-West Shrine Game in January.
