Eyeing a Century

No. 3 USC men's volleyball will play for a 10th consecutive win Friday night at Santa Barbara, but the victory would be even more meaningful to head coach Bill Ferguson who is looking for career win No. 100.

The Trojans latest surge is a great compliment to Ferguson's coaching talents.  Most programs would be in rebuilding mode after losing National Player of the Year Murphy Troy and one of the most decorated classes in USC volleyball history.

Instead, the 2012 Trojans are contending yet again after Final Four appearances in two of the last three years.

Sorry to disagree with your assessment of Ferguson's coaching ability. He is doing a good job this year with the current surge, but not winning a national title with Troy and Ciarelli together plus Riley McKibbin for three years is not my idea of greatness. The 2nd yr. they were there team lost to CSUN in 1st round of conf. tournament. Last year being #1 all season and lose to UCSB in finals of conf. tournament at home and then in final four easily left a lot to be desired in the coaching area. A major improvement over previous coach for sure. This probably is last chance to bring a title to USC with Ciarelli and Shandrick seniors while new recruits not showing much on the front line other than setter.
