The Trojan Family erupted when Matt Barkley and T.J. McDonald decided to put the NFL on hold to take care of some "unfinished business" at USC, but the aftershocks could be even more powerful as the young Trojans take their cues from the team leaders.

And, it is reminiscent of the Pete Carroll dynasty, when some top players declared early, but many more like Matt Leinart, Keith Rivers, Rey Maualuga, Sedrick Ellis, Brian Cushing, Sam Baker and Lawrence Jackson stuck around.

"Not a correct assumption," he said about leaving early. "Of course I'm still focused on this year. I'm just thinking about today, getting better each day. If it's there, of course you've got to look into it."
