Sampson Passes

USC athletics lost a dear friend last night when Lee Sampson, the head press supervisor in the press box and at the press table for football and basketball, passed away due to health issues that he had been battling for a year.

Lee and his wife Valerie became fixtures over their nearly 40 years of selfless service to the university and the media.  While they often went unrecognized for their work, they were hardly unappreciated for their invaluable work.

Over the years, they have become part of the Trojan Family that convenes on fall Saturdays or winter hoops nights to make sure the show runs smoothly and the knowledge is dispersed efficiently.  Lee will be missed by all, but Valerie promises to return to her loyal post as soon as she can.

Lee left behind two adult children, Leonard and Lisa, as well.  We will post funeral service information at a later date.
