Indoor Champions

Tennis is the most democratic of the collegiate sports.  While the USC men boast the No. 1 singles player in the country in Steve Johnson, his match-winning point carries the same value as the No. 6 singles dual.

In that spirit, the three-time defending NCAA champions overcame Ohio State 4-3 to win the ITA National Indoors thanks to a gutsy title-clinching victory from true freshman Yannick Hanfmann, who was later named Pac-12 Player of the Week.  The German import, playing in the No. 5 singles slot, battled back from a set down to win 6-4 in the third.

The Trojans took home the indoor title for the first time since 1988 and third time in program history.

Johnson and Nguyen enjoy the spoils of victory.
