While Matt Barkley's celebrity has not reached the fervor of #Linsanity or "Tebow mania", the USC quarterback's popularity has reached new heights since his record breaking 2011 season and subsequent announcement.
Just yesterday, Barkley tweeted a Valentine's Day message to his girlfriend accompanied by a photo (the QB is on Instagram now, so expect more pics for his nearly 50,000 followers). The tweet created enough social waves that Colin Cowherd mentioned it on his nationally syndicated ESPN Radio show and even more remarkably, the message became a front page news story on Yahoo.com (pictured below).
To which, the soon-to-be senior simply responded, "Whoa."
