Aquatics Center Redesign

In the latest State of Troy, USC AD Pat Haden announced plans to redesign the aquatics center, which has not been renovated since the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

The athletic department has already received a substantial gift to get this project underway, but if you would like to get involved, go to TrojanAthleticFund.com.

Here is a sneak preview of the new home of USC swimming, diving and water polo...

I'm not a fan of this redesign. The pool and Lyons Center are too small as is to cater to a school the size of USC. The space could have been better used to serve the actual needs of the students and staff that pursue a healthy lifestyle. The stands will be empty for at least 360 days a year and the awnings will add shade to most of the lanes. I thought a rebuild would have been a good opportunity to add outdoor facilities to enhance student life. It would have been nice to see a European style wading pool or an outdoor relaxation room rather than multilevel brick walls.
