USC men's tennis begins its quest towards a four-peat this month with three-time national champions Steve Johnson, the reigning NCAA singles champion, and Daniel Nguyen inked into the starting lineup alongside sensational sophomores Ray Sarmiento and Emilio Gomez.
Head coach Peter Smith signed a pair of freshmen, Roberto Quiroz (pictured) and Jordi Vives, to reinforce the depth on the roster and breed competition throughout the squad.

"Roberto and Jordi complete our team not only for the 2012 season but the future of our program," Smith said. "They are two great people that we expect to have an immediate and lasting impression on our team. They have both proven that they can be great players in singles and doubles."
Quiroz is Gomez's cousin and they both grew up in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Vives is from Barcelona, Spain, and trained at the highly respected Federacion Catalana de Tenis under Alberto Costa.
