Tuesday night marked a joyous occasion inside Heritage Hall's Varsity Lounge as more than 200 Trojan student-athletes came together to celebrate their collective accomplishments during the past academic year.
Put on by the Trojan Athletic Senate, the aptly named "Study Your TAS Off" event honored USC's 341 student-athletes who had at least a 3.0 cumulative or 3.0 term GPA from either the spring 2011 or fall 2011 semesters.
To celebrate the occasion, the student-athletes were treated to an ice cream social and rewarded with $15 restaurant gift cards through the Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund (SAOF).
AD Pat Haden, a former Rhodes Scholar, made an appearance at the event and was overjoyed by the large turnout.
"This is absolutely incredible and staggering to me," Haden said. "This proves that not only are these kids some of the world's greatest athletes, but they are also some of the world's greatest scholars. And at an institution like USC, that is not an easy feat. It's incredibly uplifting and makes my job so wonderful."
