Former USC QB Matt Cassel filled the hero role by alerting his unaware neighbor that her house was on fire last week.
The Kansas City Chief and his wife noticed smoke and flames coming from the chimney, so Cassel ran over to the house and got the attention of his neighbor by ringing the doorbell and banging the door.

"I know Matt wouldn't want this kind of attention, but I definitely think he was a hero last night," one witness told KMBC.
"I just ran up to the house and alerted them," said a humble Cassel. "The real heroes are the firefighters."
