  • Miner-Speech.jpgUSC freshman guard Alexis Moore summed it up with some strong words.  "Honestly, we embarrassed ourselves.  We did a disservice to the university in our effort and how hard we played."  While Kevin O'Neill was not as harsh with his assessment of the game, he bemoaned another meager offensive showing.  The Trojans' shooting struggles continue to tell the tale as USC made just 36% from the field and 43% from the free throw line.
  • UCLA won the game inside (30 points in the paint) and on the glass (+25 rebounding advantage) thanks to a deep and talented front court led by Mater Dei twins Travis and David Wear.  "They really took the game to us from the get go," O'Neill said.  "They've got some weapons on the front line that are tough to deal with."  The Wear twins combined for 32 points and 15 rebounds.
  • The night really belonged to Harold Miner, USC's all-time leading scorer, who had his No. 23 jersey retired in the Galen Center rafters.  The Inglewood native was surprised by his Trojan teammates and coaches at a halftime ceremony before delivering a heartfelt speech about his treasured days at Troy.  "If he is not the best, he is one of the best that ever played here," O'Neill said about Miner, who visited the team at practice this week.  "He is a first class individual in every way.  It's an honor to have him back here."

Do you have video, Jordan? I can not believe that PTN didn't show the ceremony at the half.
