Early in the first half, Dewayne Dedmon hyperextended his knee when a Colorado player landed on his leg, which forced the big man out for the rest of the game. "I'm not really sure what is going on in [my knee]," said Dedmon, who will have an MRI Friday. The team was stunned by yet another injury to a key player. "That's my best friend, so it was heartbreaking for me," said center James Blasczyk, who is playing through a ligament injury in his foot which keeps him from practicing.
- The Buffaloes put the Trojans away with a 20-2 run to start the second half. "We were totally outmanned," said head coach Kevin O'Neill. "We kind of lost our bearings as a team. [The injuries] kind of overcame our guys for the first time this year." Without Dedmon, USC is down to six scholarship players and used two walk-ons in the rotation tonight.
- Next up, USC hosts a Utah team with a similar 5-15 record on Saturday night at 8 p.m. at Galen Center. "We have to keep pushing forward in a positive manner," O'Neill explained to his team after the game. "If you do this long enough, some times it just goes like this. We have to prepare and carry ourselves [no matter the result] in a first class manner."
