Women's sand volleyball officially became USC athletics' 21st sport today and Anna Biller Collier has been hired to build the program from scratch.  USC women's sand volleyball will begin NCAA competition in the spring of 2012.

Haley-coaching.jpeg"I think we have found the right person in Anna for the start of our sand volleyball program here at USC," said women's indoor head coach Mick Haley, who will oversee the sand program. "We have a coach who has invested over 30 years in the sport and possesses the passion we believe is needed here. We plan on giving her the support needed to be successful right away. We are excited to get the players here in the fall and start training."

Collier, a USC alum (class of '77), has been a beach volleyball coach since 1990.  She's led teams to multiple Olympic games and has worked with stars such as Misty May-Treanor, Kerri Walsh, Holly McPeak and many others.

"I am extremely excited about returning to my alma mater and coaching the first women's sand volleyball team," Collier said. "It feels like home."
